Other Achievements

image Roseville College fosters student growth in many areas beyond the curriculum, and our girls have a long tradition of excellence in the areas of community service, the arts and sport - to name a few.

Roseville girls have been acknowledged by a number of organisations for their generous donations of time and funds, which grows out of their commitment to College and community charity activities. Guided and encouraged by student leaders and supported by staff, the College enjoys several creative and extremely successful whole school fund raising activities each year.

The College has been a registered operator of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme for over 20 years, during which hundreds of girls have achieved Bronze and Silver Awards and 87 Roseville girls have achieved the Gold Award. The Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award is presented by the Governor of NSW and is widely recognised by employers and the community.

Commitment, perseverance and excellence also describe the outstanding achievements of Roseville girls in the performing arts. The College Musicals, the annual Year 11 Play, The Middle School Performing Arts Evening and regular Music concerts draw large enthusiastic audiences throughout the school year and showcase the talents of Roseville girls who excel in music, dance and drama.

In 2005, one of our students came first in NSW in Music Extension and second in Music 2 in the HSC. Notably, also in 2005, another of our students finished 7th in the state in Drama. In August 2006, the Roseville College Senior Concert Band won a Gold Award at the NSW School Band Festival.

Our girls also do extremely well in debating, having recently won the first place in the 2006 Archdale Debating Competition (Year 9 Division) as well as the 2005 SDN Competition (Senior A Division).

Roseville girls also excel in the prestigious da Vinci Decathlon. In 2005 the Roseville College Year 8 Team won first place in their division from a field of over 30 schools. In 2006 they returned to Knox Grammar school as the Year 9 Team and brought home the silver medals.

On the sports field, Roseville College has an extremely impressive record of achievement, and is recognised as a strong competitor by other IGSSA schools. Every year many Roseville girls are selected as part of representative teams for IGSSA, Combined Independent Schools (CIS), through to State representation.

These are just some of our girls’ sporting achievements in the first semester of 2006: The Roseville 1st VIII won the Independent Schools Rowing Association Regatta in Canberra; one of our Year 9 students has been selected into the NSWCIS Open Soccer Team, becoming their youngest member; Roseville’s 2006 Sports Captain has been selected into the NSW Institute of Sport Hockey Squad; two of our athletes (Year 3 and Year 8) placed first in their age category at the NSWCIS Cross Country Championship. The Tildesley Tennis Team achieved the 2nd position in this prestigious tennis competition, having won the premiership in 2002, 2003 and 2005.
