Co-curricular Sport
At Roseville we believe that participation in individual and team
sports is an integral part of education. Our sports programs are
designed to foster girls’ physical, emotional and social development,
providing girls with the opportunity to improve their self-esteem,
self-discipline, teamwork and leadership skills. From an early
age the girls develop an understanding and an appreciation of
the importance of exercise as part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Roseville is a member of the AHIGS Sporting Committee, (IGSSA - Independent Girls School Sports Association), which organises competitions among leading Independent Girls’ Schools in New South Wales. All girls have the opportunity to participate in inter-school sports competitions throughout their schooling and many Roseville girls are selected every year as part of representative teams for IGSSA, Combined Independent Schools (CIS), through to State representation.
In addition to participating in Carnivals for Swimming, Diving, Cross Country, Athletics, Gymnastics and Rowing, our girls compete in the following sports during the year:
- Term 1 – Softball and Tennis
- Term 2 – Basketball and Soccer
- Term 3 – Hockey and Netball
- Term 4 – Cricket
These competitions are held on Saturday mornings at various venues in and around Sydney. As well as representing their school in the sports offered through IGSSA the girls can also participate in equestrian and skiing events, and they can enrol in gymnastics, swimming and tennis lessons to further improve their skills.
