Junior School Overview

Thinking Big Happens Best in a Small School
Roseville College Junior School is an exciting and creative place where each girl is valued for herself. Our dedicated staff are committed to providing quality learning experiences that cater for individual differences. We know how critical the early years of schooling are for academic and personal growth. Our focus is on developing each girl’s self confidence through affirmation of achievements academically, and in all other areas of their education.

  • Academic Education
Roseville College follows the Board of Studies Curriculum for students in Kindergarten to Year 6. A wide variety of experiences and practices enable girls to excel in the six key learning areas of English, Mathematics, Science & Technology, Human Society and its Environment, Creative and Performing Arts, and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education.
  • Character Education
Our girls care for one another and see themselves as part of the wider community. Roseville girls are tolerant, compassionate, courageous and optimistic. The girls participate in buddy programs volunteering to help with the younger girls, raise money for charity and take an active interest in causes that care for those less privileged than themselves. Roseville girls will be active participants in the communities of the future as they are all encouraged to develop their social skills through leadership programs and school camp experiences.
  • Christian Education
Roseville College provides opportunities for girls to hear and respond to teaching from the Bible about the saving grace of God through the death and resurrection of his son Jesus Christ. All girls participate in Christian Studies and attend chapel services. All girls in Years 3-6 participate in an annual Outdoor Education Camp where they have daily devotions based on the gospel message. Many girls choose to participate in Crusaders, a co-curricular lunchtime group, which encourages their Christian faith.
  • Gifted Education
Roseville College aims to develop the talents of all girls. Our Enrichment Teachers extend those girls who have evidence of outstanding skills or creative flair. Through differentiating units of work on a class basis we cater for individual differences. Girls are also invited to be involved in external activities such as Tournament of The Minds, Debating, and the Da Vinci Decathlon.
  • Special Education
Our learning support team provides support in Numeracy and Literacy for girls with needs in these areas. Our aim is to develop skills and learning strategies and build self-esteem in the girls we assist. Programs such as: withdrawing girls for one-on-one assistance or assistance in small groups as well as helping girls in their classroom environment, give girls confidence in their abilities. In addition, learning support organises parent training sessions, giving parents the skills and confidence to assist their daughters at home.
