History
Roseville College was founded in 1908 by Miss Isobel Davies, the daughter
of a retired Welsh clergyman. Seven pupils, a small playing field and a
cottage known as Hinemoa (named after a Maori Princess) formed the humble
beginnings of Roseville College. By the end of the first year the school
was well established with 24 students.
Roseville College has had eight Headmistresses. Miss Davies was succeeded by her Deputy, Miss Rogers, from 1948 - 1952. Miss Horner was Headmistress from 1953 - 1958, Mrs Honey from 1959 - 1972, Mrs Richardson from 1972 - 1984, Mrs Yeo from 1985 - 1999, and Mrs Collin from 2000 - 2006. Mrs Briony Scott became principal in October 2006.
As the College grew in numbers, it also developed academically, and in the range of co-curricular activities offered. Over its history the College campus has also evolved steadily through the acquisition of perimeter properties and has continued to update, expand and improve its facilities.
Although the school has grown over the years, it still retains the calm, thoughtful and caring atmosphere of Miss Davies’ little school.
